How the Prophet (SAW) Used to Perform Qurbani

As the blessed days of Eid al-Adha draw near, Muslims across the world prepare to honor the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his unwavering devotion to Allah (SWT). But did you know that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) didn’t just perform his own Qurbani—he also offered a second Qurbani on behalf of those in his Ummah who could not afford to?

This act of compassion and generosity is what we refer to as the Prophetic Qurbani—a beautiful Sunnah that carries not only deep spiritual significance but also immense reward.

What Is a Prophetic Qurbani?

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would sacrifice two animals during Eid al-Adha—one for himself and another for those members of his Ummah who were unable to perform Qurbani themselves.

“The Prophet (peace be upon him) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his Ummah, one who bore witness to the oneness of Allah and [his] prophethood.” —Hadith | Abu Talhah (Ahmad)

This was more than just an act of charity—it was an extension of his mercy for his followers. By following in his footsteps, we not only fulfill a Sunnah, but we help ensure that no one is left out from the joy and blessings of Eid.

Why Follow This Sunnah?

The Prophet (SAW) is the best example for mankind. His every action was filled with love, wisdom, and concern for his people. Giving a second Qurbani on behalf of others allows us to follow his example in a practical, impactful way.
“Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone, he will have a reward equivalent to that of those among the people who act upon it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” —Hadith | Ibn Majah
By reviving and practicing the Sunnah of Prophetic Qurbani, we open ourselves to greater reward, and we multiply the impact of our sacrifice. More families in need—families who cannot afford meat even once a year—will get to enjoy the blessings of Eid al-Adha.

How You Can Perform a Prophetic Qurbani

At Pakistan Citizens Alliance, we are continuing this Sunnah by enabling donors like you to offer a second Qurbani on behalf of someone who cannot. This means doubling your reward and doubling your impact.

Donating with PCA is easy and transparent. When you select a Prophetic Qurbani, we ensure that two animals are sacrificed—one for your personal obligation and one for the Ummah.

You can rest assured that your sacrifice will reach the most deserving families across Pakistan, especially in remote and underprivileged areas where PCA is actively working to fight hunger and poverty.

Important Dates for Qurbani 2025 in Pakistan

This year, Eid al-Adha in Pakistan begins after Eid prayers on Saturday, 7th June 2025 (10th Dhul Hijjah) and Qurbani can be performed until sunset on Monday, 9th June 2025 (12th Dhul Hijjah).

The sacrifice must be done after Eid Salah, and scholars agree that Qurbani can be offered over three or four days depending on local tradition and scholarly opinion. At PCA, we ensure all sacrifices are performed within the correct timeframe with full Shariah compliance.

Revive the Sunnah. Share the Blessings.

This Eid, don’t just fulfill your obligation—go the extra mile. Follow the beautiful Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (SAW) by giving a Prophetic Qurbani.

Let your sacrifice bring joy not just to your family, but to another one who never expected to celebrate Eid with dignity and full plates.

Donate your Qurbani through Pakistan Citizens Alliance and help us spread love, meat, and faith across the nation.
